Characteristics Of Bearing Friction Torque

NEWS 2510

In order to clarify the friction torque measurement technology, first analyze the characteristics of the bearing friction torque (Figure 1).

Mmax - maximum friction torque

Mmcp - average friction torque

1. The friction torque is a function of the angular displacement of the inner and outer rings of the bearing, M = f (H). From the equation, it can be seen that each position of the bearing during rotation has a friction torque value, which means that the measured bearing friction torque is a random variable. Performance indicators such as maximum torque, average torque, and torque difference can be extracted during the measurement process to analyze the bearing friction performance.

2. Due to the many factors affecting the bearing friction torque, the measurement conditions of the instrument must be relatively fixed in order to conduct relative comparison measurements. Therefore, in general, the technical conditions of the bearing must specify the instrument model in addition to the specified torque range.

3. When the requirements for bearing friction torque are high, special instruments are generally used for simulation measurement to improve the reliability and accuracy of friction torque measurement.

In view of the above factors, the measurement technology of friction torque is a relatively difficult task for domestic and foreign manufacturers and researchers.
